Ill be leaving my ferret for 8 days...

Question
I just recently got a ferret and I will be leaving in June for eight days. My parent's are doing Ragbri this year and I will be staying at my aunt's house which is about an hour away. I know, "Why don't you take him with?" I'm going to ask my aunt and uncle if they would have a problem with me bringing it. I'm not sure what there answer will be but even if it is yes, do I bring his whole cage or just the cat carrier with a small towel or blanket, toys, and food? They also have cats and dogs. I think there cats will be fine since I will be staying in my cousins room with her cat and her cat is friendly, for the most part, and energetic. But there is the possibility that they will say no and I will have to worry my heart out about him while I'm gone. When I'm gone do I just leave him a huge pan of food and have my parents friend, who will stop at the house to let our dogs out, water him? I'm thinking and you might wonder, Why not have your parents friend play with him? But he would only stop by long enough to let the dogs out and possibly water my ferret, not to play for the 1 to 2 hours ferrets usually require. So I would really appreciate it if you would help me out on what to do.
Thanks So Much, Amanda (Lady who loves her ferret to death ;).)

Answer
If he is going to be in his cage a lot then you need to bring his cage as a carrier will be too small.  Plan for a way to give him exercise.  8 days is a long time to be stuck in a cage with no interaction and play time.  You may want to think of a person that would be able to come over once a day to make sure he has food and water but also play time.  See if there are any pet sitters in your area that could hep out or even a ferret rescue that also does boarding.  Hopefully you can take him.
