Answer
My first question, Rana, is why do you have a 5 week old puppy? A 5 week old puppy should still be with his littermates. Secondly, you should not just try to make a dog (especially a breed like the German shepherd, which is feared by many people already) aggressive and dangerous. If you are truly afraid for your safety, you may want to consider getting a concealed weapons permit and learning how to use a gun. If you're set on using a dog, I would recommend that you purchase an adult, trained dog. A puppy is not going to protect you, so you're going to be waiting for him to mature for at LEAST a year (probably more) before he is going to be able to actually protect you. Puppies are not mentally mature enough to handle real threats, and I know of few bad guys who are going to be afraid of a 40 pound puppy, no matter how aggressive his display may be. *wink*  Additionally, you don't want a dog that is aggressive towards everyone, because a dog like that is a liability; what if the dog gets loose from you and attacks a child, or a jogger, or an elderly person walking out to their mailbox? You want a dog that can recognize a threat and respond accordingly, and/or also to your voice commands. You need to take the puppy you have now back to his littermates for at least another week or two, and I'd seriously question *any* breeder who would let you take a puppy at just 5 weeks of age. Generally, puppies should stay with their siblings until they are 7 or 8 weeks old.

What part of the country are you in? Perhaps I can help you find an ethical personal protection dog trainer, to either purchase an already trained dog from in your vicinity.
