Question
QUESTION: i dont really want a dog that likes strangers i thought it would be a good idea to keep him away from others but then some one told me that was not a good idea what should i do i want him to protect but not be a physco either.

ANSWER: Hi Tonya,

I have to ask why you want your dog to not like strangers? What happens if you get in an accident with your dog in the car and strangers have to help you and rescue your dog before he runs out into the freeway and gets killed? Or what if you fall ill and your dog needs to be boarded or taken care of by strangers? What about your veterinarian or the 'new' vet tech that needs to handle your dog for vaccinations or treatments?

I think it is a very bad idea to teach your particular dog to be wary of people. My guess is that your dog by virtue of his mixed breeding of pitbull and wolf would make people steer clear of you.

QUESTION: i want him accompany me on late night walks and dont live in a great area so thats why i asked.where we walk bums sleep at night and drug dealers sell there but its all we have in key west

Answer
I would try my best to choose a safer time of day to walk for your sake as well as your dog's.

Teach him to growl and name it something menacing. That way if someone bothers you, you can say something that sounds worse than it is and your dog will simply start growling.

I still think that b/c you own a pit/wolf mix, people will steer clear although I realize there are people out there that will be intrigued by your dog.
