Yorkie cries all night

Question
We just got our yorkie and he is 6 weeks old.  Yesterday he slept fine.  We even put him in his crate to sleep and he was fine.  We fed him around 7. Then we played with him trying to get him to get tired and took him to the bathroom.  He was starting to fall asleep on the floor so we put him in his crate and he cried.  I went back in  and told him to stop.  He ended up falling asleep, but in an hour woke up.  I took him out to potty and put him back in the crate and he cried for about 30 minutes.  He woke up off and on through the night.  I don't want him to think I will get him when he cries.  For two night I tried sleeping with him on the sofa and that kept him quiet, but he would wake up and move around.  And I want to be in my own bed.  In his crate I put a shirt of mine a ticking clock and towels so it would be soft for him.  I tried keeping the light on, putting him in the kitchen, and leaving the radio on.  Nothing work, just him crying himself to sleep.  Help!!!!
Thanks,
Lindsay

Answer
Hi Lindsay,

No matter how hard it is, let him stay in his crate.  Continue doing what you are doing and continue to tire him out as much as possible before bedtime.   You don't want to start having him sleep with you or he will never quit.  You might try putting the crate beside your bed.    Keep in mind that most puppies don't leave their mom until 8 weeks, so he is really young and this is hard on him.  Just be patient and ignore the crying.  He will adjust quickly.
