Puppy play biting rough with adult dog

Question
Hello Sandy,
I Have a 3 year old boxer mix(Leela), and a 3 month old puppy (Morgan) who I adopted a month ago. The dogs run and play all day and seem to really get along. I've noticed my adult Dog is getting scratches by her ears and neck. Little red scratches that barely draw blood. She doesn't whine or even seem to notice.
Is this a behavior I should be worrying about, or is it just puppy play? Leela also has a very thin short coat of fur. Where the scratches are happening there is very little fur. Is that contributing to the issue?

Thank you for your help,
Dan

Answer
As I'm sure you've noticed, puppy teeth are sharp, and it sound like normal play. If he's getting too rough, or his bite inhibition is a bit lacking (knowing how to not bite too hard) it might be a good idea to get him with some other appropriate puppies, or another appropriate but less forgiving female dog who will let him know when he's going overboard.
