Question
Hi,
I have a 8 months old puppy (mix cocker spaniel-terrier)she's with me 5 weeks she pees everywhere: my bed, couch armchair, pillows. It seems that wherever she is she goes, if she's outside she goes outside, if she's home she goes inside. I do all the possible trainig  it doesn't work for her maybe she's still little, i don't know.I work 3 days a week so for those days she's home alone, my place is very small so i have a kitchen and living room together that's when she spends all her day. For the night i leave the door open for her so she can go at night but during the day i can't it's too many people she might go after somebody. She runs away from me she hides underneath the car , she goes on the street. In one word she's out of control maybe i'm just unpatient but she's 3 months old, i think she should give some signs that she needs to go.I really need some help , sometimes i get so angry at her especially when she peed on my couch. That's the post important think for me how to train her to go outside.

Thank you.

Answer
I would strongly suggest that you begin crating her.  Also begin feeding her on a schedule if you don't already.  Take her out every couple of hours and if she goes outside praise her and give her a little tidbit of treat.  If she does not go, take her inside and put her in her crate.  Wait 20 minutes and try again.  The point is that she must earn her freedom in the house by doing her business outside.  Until you're confident that she is using the appropriate place to potty, DO NOT leave her unsupervised. Here is the link to a great article on using crate training in conjunction with potty training. http://www.doglogic.com/cratetrain.htm

For the last 10 years I have always used a crate when housebreaking a dog or puppy no matter their age and it has never failed to get the desired result.  Good luck and happy crating!
