Dog paths

hi Shelley, I have recently laid grass down, and had got to a stage where we can walk on it and also allow my Boxer onto it.
For some reason she now has decided to use a particular route on the grass, so much so that she is now carving a path and inturn killing off the grass. Other than putting obstacles in her way, can this behaviour be changed?

Thank you for writing to me about your Boxer.

Dogs are creatures of habit.  Your dog has carved a familiar path for herself.  This is something that both of you can rely on.  Why not turn lemons into lemonade and make a bluestone path or brick path in your garden.  The grass will not look worn away, your dog can continue in her comfortable walking pattern and you may find that the area  now has added charm that you hadn't initially planned on but that everyone can now enjoy.

This is what I would do.
