Puppy eating question

Question
I have this adorable new golden-doodle puppy.  He is 11 weeks old.  He is growing very fast and has lots of energy, although is probably the calmest puppy we have ever had.  My concern is that he doesn't eat as much as I think he should and he is a bit bony.  I repeat that he is growing very fast, but my friend has his bother who is eats a lot more and is much rounder and weighs 5 pounds more (hers weighs 22 and mine weighs 17).  I have started giving him some canned food with his dried food (science diet puppy) and he likes that but still eats less than I think he should.  Vet checked him out OK.  Any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Kimm;
Some ogs just don't have as big an appetite as other do.
If your Vet says he is fine, go with that.
If he needed to put on more weight, your Vet would tell you.
The canned food is not a good idea.
Of course they like it, but the dry dog food helps keep their teeth clean, and their teeth can become infected and they can have the dental problems people have when their teeth are no kept clean.
The fact that he is not eating more tells me he is eating all he wants.
If his body were starving, he would eat more.
Some dogs look gangly as they get in their mid-puppyhood, and look like they are not being fed properly.
You don';t want to teach him to eat more, as overweight can be deadly for him.
Can you SEE his ribcage?
If you can feel his ribs, when you run your hands down his sides, but cannot see his ribs just looking at him, then he isa not underweight.
Relax mom, and enjoy your baby.Listen to jis docor, and don't worry so much.
Worrying will make grey hairs.LOL
I am so glad he has a mom that loves him enough to worry about him.
You could try giving him some milk bones for puppies between meals.
