My dog losing hair

Hi I have a 7 year old Rat Terrier and this past summer she started chewing and scratching...Now she has sores and red spots all over her body....I know she does'nt have fleas,i have tryed hot spot and just about to take her to vet but afarid they will accuse me of dog abuse,they told me to give her allergy meds but they don't work eather...CAN YOU HELP ME

Try bathing her with a medicated shampoo. Let it sit on her body at least 5-10 min to soak in good. Don't let her chill, you may need to wrap her up in towels.  Rinse well. Repeat every other day until her skin begins to look better. Make SURE there are no fleas. Just one flea can drive a dog crazy if she is allergic.  If this continues, take her to the Vet. I'm sure they will understand and have seen much worse.  It's not fair to your dog not to have her treated if the medicated shampoo doesn't work. They can give her an allergy shot, which might do better than pills.
