skin fungus

i just purchased a 4 month old poodle i fell in love with him but he has a skin problem the previous owner says that it was cause from urination of the puppies in the litter and the pups weren't cleaned properly his skin is very flaky and has patches of hair missing i can see though were some might be starting to grow back i was just wondering if you would know something that could help me with his recovery thank you Samantha

Hey Samantha. The diagnosis from the previous owner doesn't sound accurate. Urine left on the skin causes some almost "burns" on the skin. We call it urine scald. It doesn't cause what you're describing. Sounds like you're pup has got some type of skin infection. You've vet can diagnose this & prescribe some antibiotics. Thanks!
