Question
I have a 5 month old rttweiler and he should weigh on average 68lbs and he is half his weight. he weighs about 30 lbs. what can i do to increase his weight?

Answer
Rottweilers adult weight is between 95 and 110 lbs. as they are a large breed they will not reach this weight until around 18 months. I suggest you consult with your vet for a evaluation of the dogs body score this will determine if your dog is truly under weight for his age, but from my experience 30Lbs at 5 months is within expectations, for a small Rotty. Also have a stool check done this will eliminate any malnutrition from intestinal parasites. Take care of any medical issues by consulting with your vet on the proper amount to feed and posibilities of parasite infection. Remember that not every individual of a breed will meet the average weight. some will be much lower and other much higher. If you are feeding a large breed puppy food, you are on the right track, if not consulting your vet and switching to a large breed puppy food will greatly improve your dogs health. Your vet should your best freind when it comes to your dog.
