Yellow Lab - Coat Changing Colors?

I have an eight month old lab and she is shedding, my question is her face seems to be getting dark, very dark (black), is this just because of the shedding or is something else going on?

It is natural for a yellow Lab to darken in its first year, but black?  I think I would call the vet.  

My 11 month old just did a major shed.  Along with some behavior changes, if she wasn't spayed, I would thing she was coming intoseason.  If yours isn't spayed, blowing off the coat is a common sign of her season coming soon.
