Question
My 6 year old pit mix has a few toenails that are turning brown where the nail meets the skin. What does this mean?

Answer
If he also has some that are getting a bit flakey, he could have a fungal infection going on.

If you don't see any other symptoms other than this coloration, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The next time he goes into the vet for a check-up, have him look at them.
