my first dog

Hi there

I am going to be rescuing my first girl dog from a shelter in a few weeks.She's a adult Lhasa apso. I know the basic about looking after a dog but am still not sure on a few things.Could you please tell me what you know about looking after a dog.

Well first using a crate is a great way to house train a dog-what you do is you put them in there except to go outside,to eat,to play to go for a walk or to take the dog somewhere,and do that for about three weeks then slowly let her out more,and if she makes any accidents put her back in the crate for a week

Also make sure she has water down at all times(even in the crate)

Also toys are always a good thing to have,as that will keep the dog busy when you are not around

And a breed like a Lhasa will need a lot of brushing,and daily if you can to prevent mats,and she will also need to go to a dog groomer's for a haircut when she gets too long

Also getting her spayed is a good idea,since there's a lot of unwanted dogs being born and it also better for her health
