Is my dog Pregnant?

My dog was on heat about 2 weeks ago so we kept her in the house most of the time because we did not want he to be pregnant. But now her titties are swollen. Is it because she is pregnant or is it because of something else?

Hilda, was she around any intact male dogs during the month that she was in heat? If she was, then there is a possibility that she might be pregnant. She might also be going through what is called a 'false pregnancy,' which many bitches experience if they are not bred. When you say she was in heat 2 weeks ago, exactly what do you mean? Is that when she started bleeding, or is that when she was flagging? Either way, her mammary glands (titties, as you call them) shouldn't be swelling up yet.

You should take your dog to the vet to find out exactly what's going on - she could have an infection, and consider making an appointment to have her spayed while you're there, for her health as well as for your peace of mind. If she's spayed, you don't ever have to worry about accidental pregnancies, and her chances of developing mammary tumors, as well as other reproductive system diseases, such as ovarian/uterine cancer and pyometra, are severely reduced or completely eliminated after spaying.
