re: bringing a pug into heat

I have a 3 year old black pug. She has whelped 1 large liter of 7 pups. I was wondering if there is a shot or something I can give her to bring her into a heat early? Thank You   Erica

I know that there are things you can give a bitch to delay a season (and they can have severe side effects), but I am not aware of something to bring them into season sooner. Personally, I think "monkeying with nature" can be very harmful in an otherwise normal dog. If a bitch comes into season too soon, it rarely conceives because the uterus must have a certain amount of rest before its next cycle (at least four months I was once told by a reproductive specialist). Best to talk to your veterinarian about this.
