Overweight Chinese Crested

Question
My dog is suppossedly a full breed Chinese Crested Powderpuff. I have been reading that this breed is not supposed to get above 10 pounds but my dog weighs 25 pounds. He doesn't seem to be excessively fat but does obviously need to loose weight. He used to live with my mom who had a maltese and my crested would eat alot of her food too so I think that is why he gained so much weight. I've looked at some pictures ono the internet that look like him and some that don't so I was just wondering for one if you think a full breed can get that big and how much you think I should feed him.

Answer
Steph,
there are always throwbacks in a line of dogs.  That, plus the overweight problem could be what has happened to your dog.  I would start him on a diet of  one handful of dog food and a chicken leg that has been cooked in a crack pot over night.  No bones though. that is a small handful of dog food.  Not a gigantic one.    You can also give him 1 or two treats during the day.  You can break the treats into tiny pieces if you want to give him more than that.  Or  get the Bill Jack tiny treats  OR  get him the chick or duck strips.  No jerky as it is loaded with sugar.
Try this and see how he looks.    Also can you send me a picture?
