Fur around face turning white

Question
I have a Italian Greyhound i rescued 2 years ago. At that time they said she was 9 months old. Now she should be around 3 years old. Well her fur aound her face is turninf white. What would cause this?

Some dogs really do turn grey a lot sooner then others. I have several golden retrievers, and my oldest, who is 16, barely has any grey on his face, but I have a three year old who has quite a bit around his muzzle and eyes!

Of course there IS always the possibility that the rescue was wrong about her age, but they would have had to be substantially wrong if they guessed she was a 9 month old puppy. After all, a 9month old would still have been growing into herself and filling out!

If you are very worried about her age, try asking your vet to estimate her age based on her bone structure and teeth. Good luck!
