Minature Schnauzers

2 questions: my Schnauzer is 3 years old. He is in good health, but I've noticed at night in my lap on the sofa he breathes heavily like he is hot. At the same time,the other dog in the house, A 10 year old Jack Russell is breathing normally  Any ideas?  Also, what do you feed your dogs?  Thank you.

Dear Ethyle,

Thank you for writing to me about your Schnauzer who is having trouble breathing. It is imperative that you have a complete medical checkup for him including blood work.  This could be anything from heart disease to lyme to a lung condition or thyroid condition.  Without blood work it is impossible to do anything more than guess and that is not how you want to address this situation.

I feed my dog raw food with veggies, yogurt and supplements.
