Question
I saw the same question but can not find the answer. My Cairn Terrier has developed dark spots on her belly? They do not seem to bother her in any way she has no problem with them being touched are these normal? And how will I be able to see the answer?

I'm not sure why you've not been able to find the question/answer, but it's not any bother to me.

When cairn skin turns dark, it can be a simple sign of aging, but is it most often caused by food sensitivities.  Now, obviously if she's been eating the same kibble for a number of years and is just now developing spots, it's not the food.  But, if you have changed food any time in the past several months, it is likely the food.

Cairns are very often food sensitive - about 90% of the cairns the rescue I am a member of gets in have some sign of food issues - things like ear infections, blacked skin, thickened skin, itching, hair loss, etc.

I alwasy recommend food containing no corn, no wheat and no soy. You will not be able to find this food in a grocery store (or at least that I have seen yet) - and rules out brands that have high name recognition like Iams, Science Diet and Eukanuba.

Let me know if I missed anything.
