is a shelite for me

i was thinking of getting a border collie but they seem to much work. do shelites need much excirse i have a family 5 me 15 and two sister at the age of 8 and 12 and mum and dad we have an avarge sized backyard and an oval close by(2 minute walk)

Hi!

Good question and I'm very glad you are wisely considering more than just how cute a dog is!  Any dog needs exercise.  A well-bred Sheltie can work all day and play most of the night.  The reality is most of us don't give our dogs the exercise they really need.  

The other thing you should consider being 15 is where will you be in 4 years and who will care for the Sheltie?  

I will not say you shouldn't have a Sheltie.  They are wonderful and loving dogs.  However they are somewhat demanding for attention and play.  If that doesn't fit your school/college/work time schedule then try a lower maintenance breed.
