Question
Hi again, I forgot to ask something.  My male standard (7 months old) also seems to have a peeing problem!  He is house trained, but when strangers approach him, either on the street or in the house, he pees!  I have been just trying to downplay it becuase I don't know if it is something he can help.  Will he grow out of this? Should I dicipline him?  Thanks again, Trisha

Answer
I have seen this a lot.  It is called submissive peeing.  it is common in young dogs that can not totally control their bladders yet.  He should grow out of it.  Dicipline will only make it worse.  Just try to distract him from doing it with a toy or speaking really happy to him.  If you go to peteducation.com and type in submissive peeing you can see an article on it that should give you more ideas.  Just make sure that you keep taking him out where he can get socialized more.  The more easy he is with strangers the better he will be.
