Dark spot

I have a female poodle she is a ginger color but on her back right between her hips there a dark brown spot only in that one area any idea of what this could be?

This could be a spot on the dogs skin, that causes the hair to grow in a darker color.  Try parting the hair and looking to see if there is a discoloration there, if so then that is why her hair is growing in in a lighter shade.  
She could also have gotten this spot if she had been injured in that spot or if she itched or licked this spot.  

Its not a lot of condolence, but we have an apricot girl that has a spot like you described on her back also.  It is because she had a dark spot on her back and the hair grew in darker there.  Maybe it runs in apricot dogs more frequently.
