-----Question-----
Hi, Saturday, i brung home my new pit bull puppy. His name is Cocoa. for some strange reason, when i put him near my face, he lunges at me with his mouth open as if he's going to bite me. He also tries to nip at my hands but i stop him . is this a sign of a serious fighting dog, or what can i do to stop this problem.
-----Answer-----
hi, congratulations on your new puppy, good choice!!!do not worry at all, about 7 and a half week puppy behaviour, almost any breed would do the same, he's discovering his new life, new world, new owner..., just push him away and say "no" with the colour in your voice he'll recognize later, like that's something he shouldn't do. just, please, do not hit him, if you don't really have to,( for more serious reason) no, this is not a serious fighting problem, that (if) would come later on as he mature( depending on his bloodline, genes, parents...., ask me for more details, if you want to know)i'll be very happy to help you, as i have deal with them for more than 20 years, and i know this breed more than anything else ever!! feel free to ask more.....good luck and enjoy your new apbt

Answer
hi, you're welcome!!. well, i'll tell you little bit more about young pits( as he grows, if needed i'll tell you more drastic meassures about how to raise them the right way)cocoa is only about 8 weeks old now, so nothing to worry about YET!! remember, HE HAS TO KNOW WHO IS THE BOSS, LEADER, who feeds him and care about him, never let him take control over you, as he will try, trust me he'll try if you let him!! do not argue with him, your word must be the last one, tell him once  what you want or you don't want from him, if he still stubborn( you must raise your voice at him, be sure to do this with authority) you can be a little bit rough with him and punish him( kick him out, lock him in the cage) but never hit him, beat him in any way, as he would think you are against him, you're his enemy and you want to fight him!. he has to understand you're not a part of his litter, his brother or sister he can fight back( or another dog he disagree about something and than he start fight!)remember good raise in the beginning is the most important for the future and years to come!!. i have raised hundred of puppies like cocoa( or even way worse) and i had no problems( i had couple exceptions, but this is another story)COCOA HAS TO RESPECT YOU, AND IT'S UP TO YOU HOW YOU GONNA MAKE HIM TO RESPECT YOU, read this answer well , think and let me know!! it will take some time, he's still a puppy( you have a great chance to raise him the way you want, easier than with mature, grown pit, who has already established their behaviour)by the way, i would like you to let me know more about his bloodline, pedigree( if he has any)his parents, breeder, how did you get him.....as much for now, let me know...your friend in pits, sincerely
