BEHAVIOR CHANGE IN LAB

Question
We have a yellow lab that will be one on December 23. She has always been high strung but we have had good success in crate training, housebreaking, and teaching commands (sit, stay, roll over, shake etc.).  But lately we have been having trouble with her starting to dig in the back yard.  And last week she became a Houdini in getting out of her outside run.  We anchor it and she bites, claws, and digs her way out.(it has a concrete floor)  Today at lunch she had urinated in her crate before I got home at lunch to let her out which is very unusual. I got everything cleaned up and put her back in it to leave for work and it was like she went crazy.  She was digging and clawing.  She got hold of the tray in the bottom and broke it into dozens of pieces and was biting and clawing at the sides of the crate to get out.  I didn't know what to do with her.  I felt I couldn't possible leave her in the crate because I was afraid she would hurt herself, I couldn't put her in her outside kennel because she would just dig out, so I opted for putting her shock collar on her and letting her run in the back yard (fenced in).  She will dig to China and need a good bath tonight but I felt it was my only choice.  We have never had trouble with her in her crate before today.  She was at the boarders over the Thanksgiving holiday for 3 days, but that was almost a week ago.  She was urinating more frequently since we came home so I wasn't surprised at her having an accident in her crate (now I suspect a possible bladder infection) but I do not understand her behavior when I put her back in the crate today.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Having had one accident in her crate she may have feared another one and not wanted shut in the crate.  Perhaps the whole thing will go away with some antibiotics from the vet.

She should have been spayed or had her first season by now.  If neither, it all could be part of the flaky behavior that is often the first sign of coming in season.
