Question
QUESTION: I have a 6 and a half month old Labrador puppy. Can you tell me what would be a good schedule for her with these ingredients?
We have Royal Canin Labrador Retriever Junior, eggs, beef mince, beef bones and veggies.

ANSWER: If you are confident in the Royal Canin, I would transition her to the adult formula next time you buy food.  The best way to assure her of getting the diet she needs is to stick to the kibble alone.  It likely has near the maximum by analysis of 1.5% calcium a growing large breed should get.  The eggs, beef bones, and to the extent they are digested, the vegetables could push her over the 1.5% limit.  Too much calcium prevents developing proper bone structure.  Dog foods are carefully formulated to have enough of all the nutrients dogs need.  Adding other things are likely to do more harm than good by ruining the careful balance.

Keep her lean too. Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. QUESTION: Could you tell me how to get a strong dominance over my Labrador puppy female?

Answer
The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
