QuestionI have a 9 month old male black lab from a working breed, he is the perfect dog, well behaved. My wife has been told by our vet he should be castrated for health reasons. He shows no signs of aggression with us or other dogs, he doesn't try and mate with anything apart from a blanket and he doesn't run off. What would you advise.
AnswerHello, He is fertile now and if he isnt being a pest you don't need to have him neutered. Of course what teh vet ment is that since he has testicles he can get testicular cancer which the chance would be eliminated if he was neutered...but think carefully first make sure you wont want to breed him in a few years before having him neutered.
