Question
We just adopted a Parson Russell terrier yesterday. we have owned dogs before so this is not the first time. Max (the terrier) is 14months and adorable! I have a few questions...What is the difference between JRT and PRT? also Max seems only to eat if I hand him a kibble and sit infront of his bowl...he drinks plenty. before we adopted Max my boyfriend and I agreed not to give him any human food. Why do you think he's not eating? do you think his previous owner gave him scraps? we are using the same dog food he was eating at the place we adopted him from and i'm affraid to keep hand feeding him. because i dont want him to think thats the only time he can eat. what should i do?

Answer
Hello, JRT and PRT are the same if you ask me but I think only the PRT is registerable/showable or the PRT is for the states and the JRT can only be registered in canada or something like that also it seems some PRT's are smaller neater built dogs then the offen longer legged JRT...I'm not sure what they clase the shorties as parsons or jacks. This is normal for a new dog entering the home the best way is to leave teh food bowl down and when he is hungry he will eat it...indeed if he onyl eats it from yuor hands he will wait for you to feed him so stop taht unless you feel like feeding the dog every piece of its meal for the rest of its life! After you've got the dog eatting the food via free feeding you can offer it mroning and evening for portioned meals. Best of luck with your new pup!
