Question
my neighbors just moved in and they have a 3 year old jrt, my pup jrt is 7 months old and is alot taller than theirs why is that and what standard is my dog he is registered with ckc

Answer
It sounds like you have a Parsons - they have the tall long legs. I'm not sure if your pup is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club or the Continental Kennel Club because I'm not sure where you are writing from.
Anyone can register their dog with the Continental Kennel Club and does not guarantee your dog is a pedigree. Try to get him registered with the JRTCA if that's important to you.  Parsons are cross bred "Jacks" of fox terriers and the original Russell Terriers. They are athletic, tall, avid hunters and very active.  The original Russell Terriers came from Europe and are short. They are sometimes called Puddins, Shorties, Irish, and English. The shorties have a calmer demeanor and disposition. There are pros and cons of both types and you will find people who swear by the Parsons and others who prefer the shorties. I have 4 shorties. The Shorties were the ORIGINAL but the Parsons became popular in America and were the first "jack russells" recognized in the US by the JRTCA. The JRTCA is finally coming around to recognize the shortie.
Both types are beautiful and have their own special qualities.  I'm surprised your breeder didn't fill you in on this! Good luck with your little tall one!!
If you go on the internet and search IMAGES, type in Parsons Terrier and then Russell Terrier or Shortie(puddin, Irish,English) and you will see the difference!
Hope this helps!
