growling

Question
Hello:
Our JRT is a great, well bred, sound dog, ignores the cat, isn't dominate towards our female schnauzer, etc. He is 3 yrs old. His only bad behavior is growling when touched or bothered while sleepy, mostly at night. He has never bitten, but will curl his lip. He wants to be right next to you, or under the covers, not in his own space, but then left undisturbed. This is annoying, and he could snap. Scolding and putting a finger on him hasn't had much impact,(we watch Cesar Milan), maybe we should poke harder?. This breed can become more aggressive with some dominance/rough handling techniques. What works for this?
Thank You.

Answer
Hi Laura,
Move him out of your bed and into his own on the floor next to your bed. He thinks he OWNS your bed and is getting annoyed with YOU for disturbing him!!! That's a jack allright. He absolutely cannot be allowed to growl at you and yes, keep using the Cesar technique if he dares to do that to you again. It's unacceptable. Definitely MOVE him into his own space and stick to it.
