Running Long Distance with German Shepherd

I'm a marathon runner and I want to take my 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd for a 10 mile run 4  times a week.  Is that too much for a German Shepherd?  Should I alternate my days?

It is good you didn't start him any younger.  I am sure you have worked up to where you are now.  Give him a chance to also.  If you can, run on dirt, not pavement.  As the weather warms up, consider wetting him down.  Shepherds are not as quick to take a swim as other breeds, but it is a good idea if he will.  A wet dog can take as much heat as you can.
