QuestionWe are getting an 8 week German Shepherd puppy in 2 weeks. Can you recommend a good training book for us? I already know the basics as we have 2 other dogs that have been easily housebroken with sit, stay etc. We would like the GS to be a protector of the family. Would you recommend that we have her taken to a professional trainer or could I master it with a good book to guide me? Thanks.
AnswerI have liked The Art of Raising a Puppy by the Monks of New Skete. I am not sure why the latest edition of my Puppy Raising Manual left it off their list.
Here is a list put together by the professionals at a dog guide school for those caring for their dogs.
