my depressed puppy

my husband was in a recent car accident that has put him in a wheelchair, i was afraid our dog my hurt him, but the opposite has happened, our 2 year old German shepard puppy is not sleeping, or eating like normal, he cries to company and looks at my husband(hoping they can fix him) is there anything we can do to help him through this transition?

Shepherds are very loyal to their people.  You must let them together as much as possible.  How much attention is your husband able to give the dog?  Could he throw a ball for him to chase?  Could he at least reach down and pet the dog?  I have a big Lab I take to a nursing home and many of the people in beds and wheelchairs love to pet him.  Dogs can sense when something is wrong.  They will be gentle.  

You may also need to give the dog more time, giving it walks and playing with it.
