QuestionI just got a teacup applehead chihuahua 4 days ago,, and she is a adorable sweetheart. People who had her had 9 dogs. My problem is i dont know how much to feed her,, she is very food aggressive and acts starved to death. I put 1 cup of dry food down, for her and my toy poodle and she ate every bit of it herself, i didnt stop her cause i thot she would just quit when she was full. Then last nite she vomited a long rope like thing of food. Her bms are normal
AnswerHello Margaret: Please be careful with her feeding - She only needs about 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup per day - If she gets overweight her legs will give out! ( her knees - patella)
Give her 2 -3 small feedings per day - Chi dogs can get low blood sugar and need to eat a few times per day.
You can give her some canned pumpkin to add to her calories and fiber intake - they both can have 2 teaspoons of canned PURE pumpkin per day. ( or even 1 heaping teaspoon would be fine)
Place her in a different room or crate during feeding time.
Also, a PLUS would be a good supplement - NuVET Plus wafers will help them to stay healthy and well thru a lifetime.
NuVET protects your chi against arthritis and joint ( knee ) problems.
Your dogs will need about 1/2 a wafer per day - About .25 cents per dog per day.
Call Joan tomorrow and order some : NOT sold in stores
