Question
I woke up this morning to find my 3yr old 6lb chihuahua Roxy in pain. She normally sleeps in my bed all night however she was down in her dog bed when I woke up. Her behavior seemed unusual and upon checking her she yelp and cried as I tried to pick her up. At first I thought is was constipation. (She really is favoring her back hind quarter) She went out back with me seemed to be walking fine and produced a BM which made me think ok she might be fine. Unfortunately that was not the case she continues to yelp if I touch or put pressure on her behind or lift either one of her back legs...She will let me lift her from her front and place her up on my shoulder ass long as no pressure is being put on her back half. I'm wondering what it could be. I have made her an appointment for tomorrow but I'm getting increasingly concerned. What would cause my dog to behave this way. she did get into some already popped popcorn last night not a lot. Please help I'm worried. My car is in the shop today or I would take her now.

Answer
Luxating patella:  Did you see the vet yet?
Hi Sandy - Oh, so sorry your girl is in pain.
YOU can give her 1/2 of a baby aspirin (81 mg ) Cut in 1/2.
I am sure your vet will give you something tomorrow for the pain.
Chi dogs tend to have hip and knee problems if they JUMP too much - jump up on the bed or chair often???? this can cause problems.
After you see the vet - tell me what he/she says?
I can help with supplements to repair the damage.

BEST of luck
