Question
I brought home a 8 week old Chihuahua yesterday (9th August). We got home at roughly 4pm.Its now the 10th and its 6:10 PM. My Chihuahua has only eaten and drank once since being home. Last night we kept him in a cage, and he was crying all night and i got told by my mum to ignore it. It still hasn't eaten today. Yesterday my puppy was walking fine and not falling over. Today hes not walking to good. When he tris to walk he just falls over.  When i pick him up his head leans. But he wasn't doing this yesturday.Could you please tell me what is wrong?

Answer
You need to get this pup to a veterinarian FAST.  When a pup is not eating or drinking, it is a LIFE or DEATH situation and asking for assistance over the internet is just not sufficient.

Either this pup was not weaned properly or it has something medically wrong.  A lack of food will cause a condition called hypoglycemia which could account for the fact that your pup cannot walk now and the head is leaning.  If this condition were not as BAD as it is right now and had not accelerated so much, you could possibly arrest the hypoglycemia in the beginning by rubbing Karo syrup on the gums, but you can't even get this pup to eat and things have gone TOO FAR and you need medical intervention.  Pups can DIE of hypoglycemia.  They can also die of dehydration which comes from not eating or drinking.  Again, you need medical assistance and FAST. Most likely this pup will need to be hydrated via IV and possibly fed by tube if its to be helped at all.

That's unfortunate that you were told by anyone to let a pup cry all night who is suddenly separated from it's mum and littermates especially when IT WAS NOT EATING OR DRINKING.  This pup should have been kept warm and there are other measures that you can take to comfort it during the night when first separated from the mum.

Don't waste time writing to people on the internet asking about what to do, as this is very dangerous.  Get the pup to a vet.  And if there is any reason that you can't do that, then you need to surrender this pup to an animal welfare agency where they can get the proper attention  for it or take it back to the breeder from which you got it (who should have told you how to take care of this pup properly and made sure that it was eating before you took it home) providing that they have assured you that they will get medical attention for it and not just let it languish and die.
