Mouth Growth in a 6 year old male boxer

Question
I have a almost six year old boxer name Diesel. About 2 years ago he started cry when he ate. We took him to the vet who found a growth in his mouth. She drained the growth and he was better for about 1 month. The same thing started one month later. This time, they sedated the dog and lanced the growth. They found fluid and fecal matter inside the growth and removed as much as possible. This worked for about 2 years. The growth is back and I am not sure what to do. He can't eat, bark, and even yawn without crying severly. He won't let me near his mouth to even try and look at it.Have you ever heard of this before?

Answer
Your vet didn't tell you what it was?

If he lanced it and puss drained, he should have told you what it was, what caused it, etc.

I've never heard of mouth sores having fecal matter in them, just puss which is white blood cells trying to attack the infection.

Puss is an indication of an infection, so it shouldn't be cancerous.

But something is causing the sores...

It sounds like his immune system isn't very strong, and normal bacteria and germs from licking, playing with toys, etc. (anything going in his mouth) is causing the infection.

Put him on canned, wet dog food to make it easier for him to eat since the sore is painful, and get him back to the vet to have it lanced, etc.
to relieve his pain and help him return to normal. Continue to feed him wet, canned dog food until it is healed completely.

Ask your vet what it is and what caused it.

There are all kinds of mouth sores in a dog's mouth, and different causes, but usually it's a mouth wart which will go away. But they are not pull filled.

He needs to be on a good all natural diet; a good dog food that does not have corn or corn gluten in it. A nice lamb and rice or chicken and rice (minus the corn and corn gluten) is good.

He needs daily vitamins to coax his immune system back to normal.

You can cook for him as well, like pan cook (with a little water so not to brown it) ground turkey or ground chicken, and add to cooked rice and cut, cooked carrots.

Add plain, (no flavor) whole yogurt to his dog food twice a day for awhile, then you can reduce it to once a day.

Fresh water= change his water often and keep his eating and drinking bowls clean, clean, clean. Wash his toys (the washable ones) and keep his bedding clean.

Bacteria and germs build up in these things and areas, and can cause harm to his mouth sore.

Be sure to talk with your vet to try to find out the cause and eliminate it- hopefully it is just an immune system issue and better diet and vitamins will help, or simply the occssional mouth sores dog's can get.
