Question
Hello,
I have a 14 week Beagel.  Some people tell me to feed her twice a day, 1/2 cup each time and others tell me three times a day, 1 cup each time.  How much should I be feeding her?  As of last week, she weighte 4.9 lbs.

Answer
Hi, lucky you with a new beagle baby! Until she is about 6 months she should be eating three times a day with her ration divided three ways. Then at around 6 months you will switch down to 2 x day for life. Hopefully you are feeding her a very high quality food, I personally like the Dick Van Patten Natural Balance especially for beagles as they make a "Limited Ingredient Diet" with no grains which are often the things that cause allergies and beagles are very allergy prone. As far as the amount you need to follow the lower range of what it says on her puppy food divided into three.  You dont want to over feed her as a puppy or she'll grow too fast which can cause problems. Beagles should always be kept lean as they tend towards obesity and it greatly shortens their lives. Hope this helps!
