My beagle will not eat dog food unless it is mixed with human food

Question
Hi! I got a beagle puppy around a month ago, she is 3 months now. Before, when I got her, she was great with the dog food and loved it a lot and ate the bowl clean, now she wouldn't unless it is mixed with human food. It is because my mom gave her human food without me looking even though I tell her not to. I have nothing against it but it is not like we will always have some chicken or beef or meat that is healthy for her ready all the time. How can I make her like her dog food again? I have tried mixing her food with human food then decrease the human food bit by bit but it ain't working, that made her eat less and less. Please help!

Answer
Hello Paulo!
Judgeing by what you said you got her at two months and that is young for a puppy to be away from its mother. She probably hasn't gotten all the nutrients she needed. Whoever or whereever you got her from you need to call and question that. The minimal age for a puppy to leave its mother is 3 1/2 months. When beagles or any dog for that matter get a taste of human food it is hard to get them off of it. Try getting science diet (sometimes it is hard to find, depending on what stores you have) and mix it with green beans. Make sure it is puppy formula. Mixing it with green beans will help maintain a healthy weight, make her coat shiny, and give her high protein and fiber. Feed it to her twice a day with portions of one cup each time. Or there is a new food out now. My brother recently had the problem you are having and I told him what I am about to tell you. Try the new beneful cups. They look, smell, and have the real texture of human food. At the end of this e-mail I will give you a link to its website. For a while try even putting it in a human bowl or a bowl that you eat out of. Just make sure it gets washed, haha! Beneful cups aren't as hard to find either. They will get her back on track. Good luck and I will have the link for you at the end. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask.
