Whining Beagle

Question
Hi I have a 12 week old Beagle and for the most part she is doing pretty good with training. I am  having a problem when I leave to go to work. I'm normally gone for about 6 hours out of the day. Before I leave I play with her let her out and feed her. But when I leave I put her in my bathroom (which is pretty big), leave music on and the light, her toys and some water, but I close the door. It's only when I leave that she whines and screams. It's to the point that I can walk down the hall and still hear her. I'm afraid I'm going to get kicked out of my apartment complex. Is there anything I can do to minimize the whining while I am away. Like I said this is the only time she does this and it's bad. Thank you

Answer
Hello!
It sounds like she is having some anxiety toward staying in the bathroom. although it may be big, it can still be uncomfortable. Sounds usually echo, there should be a window and the air flow isn't good in a bathroom which can lead to closterphobia. There are two things I would suggest. One is maybe putting her in the kitchen or another room like that and gating it off, you could even maybe still put her in the bathroom and that would allow you to keep the door open and put a gate at the door. Two is actually getting a kennel, or a crate which is what you should do when leaving a animal alone for hours. Below I will put a link to the best place you can buy them. They are open and compact so you can put them anywhere. They also still train your dog to be potty trained. I would really recommend one, instead of putting her in the bathroom. I highly recomment the remington wire kennel. It is well worth its money. It may be a little steep but it is a one time thing that last forever. That is the exact one I have for my beagle and she loves it, because it is big enough to fit her needs and wants (toys, etc.) Please give those a try and I assure you that she will enjoy those much more. Good luck and if you need anymore questions answered don't hesitate to ask me again. I hope for the best!
