Beagle Breath

Question
Jack is about 3 years old and every check-up he's had the vet says his teeth and gums are in good shape. However Jack has the worst breath, there are times when I can smell it from across the room. I give him the pedigree breath busters as treats, and he eats only dry dog food. I don't know what to do about his breath!

Answer
Hi Priscilla, I wish I knew the answer to this question because I have a poodle with the same issue. The vet told me to try giving him 2.5 mg of pepcid daily because it might be his stomach but the lowest dose of pepcid i could find was 10 mg and when I try to cut them into fours they just crumble into powder so havent been able to even try this.

I just give him A LOT of things to chew, rawhides etc which seems to help a little bit, and I keep his face clean, because he is a poodle and had a moustache/beard, I shaved it off and that seemed to cut down on the smell a tiny little bit but he just has obnoxious breath. period.

So..... not sure I can help much on this one as I am struggling with it myself. I CAN tell you that one of my other dogs occasionally has bad breath but irregularly and we found out he was eating poop so at least check to see if yours is doing that!?

Good luck!
