My Dog wont walk- only pull

Question
I have a 11 month old precious female beagle. We play hard, and spend a lot of time together. I want the proper walk,  dog walking beside its owner. Mine WILL NOT do this. I have worked with her since she was about 4 months old. She loves her leash but she will not do anything but pull. I have purchased choke collars, the gentle leader, (complete disaster...she lays down and will not budge, even for food)stop and make her sit, wait it out, change direction, etc. to no avail. Can't afford training classes. Help!!!

Answer
Hi Pat, sorry you are having problems walking your girl. If you are not able to go to classes I would suggest two things, get a book or better yet a video on training. Also can you get someone, a friend or family member to help you. It appears that you are both stuck in some sort of pattern and I think it would be helpful to have someone else try to walk her for a short time until she gets unstuck and will move forward on the leash without resistance. You can walk along but I think someone else needs to be at the other end of the leash and work her through this then you can take it back up. Obviously the best thing would be classes but since that is not an option this is the only other thing I can think of that might help to break this pattern.
