QuestionAbout three days ago my cat was laying on me and I noticed a circular sore on her upper lip, approx 1 mm. I ignored it until tonight when I looked again hoping it disappeared, but it's gotten a bit bigger and there's a small red bump forming on the other side of her lip as well. Last week her nose was a bit runny but it went away. Also she's been licking herself in almost an OCD manner. I figured it was all the stress from packing for the move... I know stress triggers blisters on my lips.
Any thoughts?
AnswerHi Amanda,
The "OCD-type" licking/grooming could well be a stress-related response to your packing/preparing to move. This is not, however, necessarily related to the sores on her lips. I am not a vet, however, so i suggest you address your question to a vet (on this site or, better still, your own vet).
I give my own animals a few drops of Bach Rescue Remedy if they are stressed about something - just takes the edge off. Speak to your vet (or to a vet that also specialises in alternative therapies) if you feel that she might need help adjusting to the change.
Sorry i couldn't help more but this appears to be more of a clinical problem than a behavioural one.
