Cat Sleeps on Dining Room Table

Question
The cat is constantly jumping on the dining room table, and falling asleep on the table. No matter what we do, she does not want to stop this behavior. What can we do to stop her from sleeping on the dining room table?

Answer
Hi Maria,

What have you tried so far to stop her from sleeping there? It is generally much easier to teach an animal to do something else instead of trying to teach them NOT to do something. Cats like to sleep in high places (above ground) so I would suggest providing her with a sleeping place (eg. a shelf) that is higher up than the table and making it more rewarding for her to sleep there rather than on the table by putting her bed/blanket there, even putting some catnip / catmint there to make it irresistable for her.

This should do the trick but if you are still having a problem please let me know. Include details of what you have done so far to try to prevent the behaviour.

Thank you for your question.
