Cat Eliminating on rugs, in bed

Question
I have 2 three year old female cats from the same litter. About 3 months ago, after spending some time staying at a friend's house while I was out of town (this has never been an issue before), one of the cats began going #2 on the rugs in my house...any rug she could find, and only at night while we were sleeping. Eventually, all the rugs had to be thrown out, and she stopped doing it for a couple of weeks. Recently, however, she has started going #2 IN MY BED! She uses the litter box daily but occasionally (once per week) will go in my bed. The vet said she is fine and healthy. But clearly something is wrong. Please advise!

Answer
Jen,

Usually a cat does that when it is mad at you, but usually it doesn't progress as far as your cat has taken it. Something is upsetting her very much.

Did something traumatic happen when you were gone? Did something scare her badly?  It sounds like she is punishing you for something. Is something different in the home? Even something minor?

I am including a link to a great website that has a lot of very good articles on improper elimination. Type or cut and paste the whole link into your address bar:

This information should be of great help to you.
You must be going crazy...I know I would. I would keep my bedroom door closed, especially when I'm in bed, and keep her out! Or start a new fad....a plastic sheet for a comforter! (smile)
