Question
I'm ready to have this cat put to sleep.  I'm beyond exhausted on this problem.  You can read my problem here:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Cat-Training-Behavior-3489/cat-poops-everywhere-ready...

I have tried the suggestions.  In the bathroom with cat attract litter the cat will use the box for a few days, then crap on the floor and meow to be let out of the bathroom.  I decreased her training down to a dog cage with cat attract litter, leaving an opening to get access to a nearby litterbox only.  She starts off using the litterbox.  In a few days it gets old and she craps right on the cage floor by her food, then doesn't mind laying down and sleeping with it 1 inch in front of her nose.  Clean everything daily.  Lord knows i have given this problem a great fight.  People are telling me now something is wrong with this cat.  That it's not even following normal instincts.  I can't even gain ground with basic litterbox training 101 procedures.  If anyone wants her or anyone knows where I can take her fine.  One thing for certain is i am finished with her one way or another.  The no kill shelters are a crock.  Hmm, ALL of them are ALWAYS full, how convenient.  An outside farm cat maybe?  She is well clawed.  Let me know.  HooyerD

Answer
Hooyer,

That is a frustrating problem I know. I had a cat once that would NEVER use the litter box, no matter what. He just did not like the feel and sound of the litter. I ended up putting newspaper down over a sheet of plastic and he used that fine.

It could be a mental thing and trying to force him is just going to make him fight it more and resent it.

I am including a link to a website that has a lot of good articles on improper elimination and you may find something helpful in them. Copy and paste, or type the whole link into your address bar:

It may be that you just have a kitty with a 'screw loose'.
