Question
Is regarding the answer I got from the expert Karen Craft about my cat's behavior. I already tried the smacking method, of course, not hard. He stays okay for a while, but hen he thinks a forgot about he's swat to me he does it again. Is anything else I could do?

Answer
Hi Maria,
I am hoping you will write back to tell me what you are dealing with. Due to not having any information i can maybe guess your cat is being overstimulated and swatting you? If so, please give me details. One would not deal with this by smacking a cat but tracing back to his body cues to make sure you dont overstimulate him. Is his claws out?or is he tapping you? There is a difference between an animal tapping to keep you there and an overstimulated swat or even an aggressive swat. Kitty is communicating with you about boundaries and if you are attempting to not hear him and lightly "smack back," you still never got the message as to what exactly is going on. Cats are not creatures for obedience, this is not the psychological premise from which they operate and live happily. The different types of mentioned" swatting" or use of paw and forelimb that cats exhibit are all different and should all be dealt with differently. Are his ears back? Is he hissing? When is he doing it? If you write me the details i will offer suggestions. It is clear if someone offered information and its not working then dont use it.I am very concerned someone has told you to smack a cat. I am also sorry i dont know your situation. You mentioned an expert gave you this information, the network of experts from this site do not work together and i am sure many have different views. Under no circumstances would i ever recommend swatting a cat.   Inappropriate behavior begets more inappropriate behavior and if we dont trace to the root to modify and seek to understand we end up with an unruly situation. This can have you end up with an aggressive cat with behavior problems. However i have no idea what your question was? As you gave me no information to help you in any way. Please let me know what you are dealing with.
I tried to search for your name but am unable to find your question. I have worked with cats behaviorally for many years. look forward to hearing from you!
