odd smell

Question
A friends of mine has a very overweight female cat, she's spayed only a few years old. Lately she has been gaining quite a lot of weight and has developed an odd urine smell. my friend has bathed the cat numerous times in the last couple of weeks and the smell keeps returning. She is very concerned, what could possibly be causing it? Does the cat need to see a vet?
I would greatly appreciated a quick response, thank you for your time.

Answer
Rebecca,

I have no idea, but I would go to the vet immediately.

There are any number of things that could be going on here, but not being a vet, I really am not sure how to even begin.  It could be a bowel obstruction, a tumor, or who knows what!!!!!

Best regards... Norm.
