Cat Attacked Me

Question
I rescued a three year old female cat from a no-kill shelter.  She is about 18 pounds and very strong.  Recently her behavior began to change.  Out of the blue, she attacked me, latching onto my leg at the thigh and almost knocking me over.  i had a trip to the hospital for stitches. I had to run out of the house for fear of further attack.  Since the attack, I cannot go near her to put her in a carrier and transport her to a vet as she will attack again.
Can you suggest what to do?
