Cleaning a cat

Question
One of our cats has gotton some sort of black, automotive-smelling guck all over himself.  I think maybe he was up under our motorhome exploring.  We used about half a box of baby wipes and then dried him with paper towels but black still rubs off.  I think a bath is in order but I'm not sure what kind of shampoo to use.  It took a good deal of washing with hand soap to get my hands clean so I need something fairly strong but I don't want to harm his skin.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  We previously used a dry shampoo on another cat who came home with the same guck but it wasn't effective.  Thanks for any help!

Answer
If she cleans her self, take her to the vet. She could have gotten that in her system and she will be sick. What do you clean a cat with? I would not use many human products for they are not made for cats and can get cats sick. I recommend calling your vet and also seeing what your Pet shop sells. Good luck and sorry
